The EU Funds Corruption Controller is a public archive of verified corruption and financial crime cases across the European Union. It brings together court decisions, indictments and official findings, and presents them with their sources, so that citizens, journalists and researchers can see what happened, where and with what result.
Learn to recognise the warning signs, from unusually restrictive tenders to officials with undisclosed interests.
Plain-language explainers on how corruption works, what it costs and how institutions respond to it.
Examples of safeguards that work: open public contracts, accessible data, independent prosecutors and a free press.
Every case links to its sources, and open investigations are labelled so that suspicion is never mistaken for a verdict.
Corruption thrives where decisions are made out of sight and nobody is held to account. It is weakened by the opposite: open public contracts, accessible data, independent prosecutors and a free press. Each of these makes wrongdoing harder to hide and easier to prove, and each depends on citizens who know what to look for.
You do not have to be an investigator to help. Learn the warning signs, such as unusually restrictive tenders, contracts split to avoid scrutiny or officials with undisclosed interests. If you suspect wrongdoing, report it to the competent national authority, to the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) or to the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). EU rules on whistleblower protection exist so that people who speak up in good faith are shielded from retaliation. A suspicion is not proof, so the Calculator presents only what is publicly documented, and leaves guilt to the courts.
